The maintenance of synthetic hair extensions is not that easy, due to the fact that extensions needs more care than other hair products. However, if you take good care of your synthetic extensions, they will look good and last for a long period of time.

 1. Find out which quality grade that your synthetic hair belongs to. To the synthetic hair which is cheap, you can not use heat on it as this will make the synthetic fibers melt. Some types of synthetic fibers can not supper too much heat. If you want to heat the extensions, you need to check to see if they can be heated before purchasing them.

2. Extensions that you want to keep straight will require the use of a detangling spray. The spray needs to be used on the extensions daily. A detangling spray will help to stop your hair from getting tangled and frizzy. Furthermore, comb the extensions with a special designed comb or brush; common combs and brushes can damage the wefts and make the extensions pull out.

3. Make sure to curl the extensions carefully when curling them. Many synthetic extensions sold in the markets are straight. And they will be still straight even after being washed. But if you want to make them curl, then you can get hair-curlers to achieve that. Soak your extensions in warm water(about 60degrees), and then roll the curlers into the hair. Let the hair air dry naturally, when the hair gets dry, you can remove the curlers, and you will have curly hair extensions.

4. At the end of the day, you can wash out the hairspray or other styling products with proper shampoo and conditioner. Do use cold water and choose the right shampoo specially made for synthetic hair. Choosing correct shampoo can prevent the extensions from tangling.

5. Tidy the ends and distribute some oil onto the extensions and brush it through. Leave it for about 60 minutes, and then use a towel to remove the excess oil from the hair. Wash the hair with proper shampoo, and rinse it for about 5 minutes.

6. Before the hair extensions look dull and dirty, you need to renew or remove them. Most of hair extensions can be in good condition for about six weeks, and after six weeks, they tend to move up the hair shaft and become loose and uneven. So if you want to keep them in good condition and make them work for a long time, you need to take care of them very carefully. When they are not in a good condition, you can return them to the hairdresser to make them look better.
